Revamp for The Grove Museum after new findings
Sat, 06 Aug 2016
What was life like 'below the stairs' - that's what residents are being invited to find out after a revamp at The Grove Museum.
The Manx National Heritage site was damaged by bad weather so some of the rooms needed moving around and repair.
Curator Matthew Richardson says that when they came to putting things back they discovered they may have had it wrong:
After studying an engraving in the room they thought was a childs play room they have moved around the museum to show that room a servant's room instead.
A new solar powered 'sound bench' has also been installed so visitors can listen to extracts of recordings made by Janet Gibb - the last family member to live at the historic house.
She recounts her memories of childhood at the Grove and Ramsey as well as stories of the First World War.
