Minister claims concert was 'close to breakeven'
Sat, 06 Aug 2016
Government is 'close to breakeven from a taxpayers' point of view' following the recent Tom Jones concert - although it's still 'finalising financials'.
That's the claim from the Economic Development Minister who's taken to Facebook to respond to criticism levelled at his department after it refused to disclose the financial details.
Earlier this week we asked the department to reveal whether it had underwritten the concert and to what extent and whether it had made a profit or loss - questions it refused to answer.
Laurence Skelly told critics that promoters who represent performers won't sign deals without a 'confidential clause' which he says is 'standard in industry'.
