Crab and lobster fishing could be restricted for further three years

Restrictions on crab and lobster fishing in Baie ny Carrickey could be extended for another three years.
A four-year trial - which shut down the southern bay to most fishermen - ends in November; the Department of Environment, Food and Agriculture is now looking at continuing the closure.
Fishermen who are allowed to fish in the area have been compiling detailed data on their catches to assist the department in safeguarding stocks for the future.
Lobster and crab are worth £863,000 to the Island's economy each year - the public is now being asked to share their opinions on whether a three year extension should be applied.
Dr Fiona Gell is a senior biodiversity officer - she says during the trial period fisherman have also introduced their own landing size restrictions which need further evaluation:
