Big jump in domestic abuse complaints on Island

Domestic abuse on the Isle of Man has risen by 56 per cent in the last year.
Figures released by the police show there were 457 incidents logged between April 2015 and March this year - 64 per cent of those occurred where there was children in the family.
The growth has been attributed to a 'concerted effort' amongst police officers who are said to have 'reinvigorated' their approach to physical, sexual, emotional or financial abuse.
PC Leanne Cullivan works in the Multi-agency Public Protection Unit - she says people appear to have more confidence in how problems are handled and is urging people to seek help:
