Incredibly, the weather has been perfect for every round of the first ten rounds of the
summer seasons 50 metre matches and this week, Mike Duncalf took yet another win in
both the Osborn Carpets Scratch match and The IoM Rifle Associations Jamaica Trophy
series of matches at Sinclair, on Monday evening, posting an excellent score of 617.6. Harry
Creevy claimed second position with 613.8 but was closely followed by John Wood in third
on 612.9. Outstanding performances came from two juniors, Rhys Keown and Sam Jones.
Both these teenagers had spent a considerable time with the IoM Shooting Club’s coach
Michelle Smith over the weekend and the time and effort certainly proved to be very
worthwhile. Fourteen year old Keown produced a score of 596.9 claiming yet another
personal best by 16 points a week after his previous PB and Jones, sixteen years of age, who
has not shot since Easter, posted a PB in both standard and decimal scoring systems a 580 x
600 and a 605.9 – terrific results from both – well done lads.

Keown takes his second win in a week in the Empire Garage Tynwald Shield Handicap
Round ten of the Empire Garage Tynwald Shield went, once again to teenager, Rhys Keown with his PB standard score of 569 x 600, once his handicap of 60 was applied, the win was a staggering 28 point advantage from Sam Jones on 608 from Ashley Gardner who posted 606. Just one full house was scored in this competition this week despite the excellent conditions and that went to Ashley Gardner in his second series.

Trafford wins round 10 of The Sadler Junior Championship
Alex Trafford had some very close competition in The Sadler Junior Championship from both Sam Jones and Rhys Keown this week but claimed the win by just 1.6 points. Sam Jones held onto second position by a mere .2 from the ever improving, Rhys Keown. Matthew Roosen has had some very poor scores recently, but felt that this week’s score of 295.5 was a definite improvement, once again after spending a weekend with the Development Coach Michelle Smith.
