More than 241,000 phone calls were made to government in the last twelve months.
The figure was revealed in the House of Keys this week after Onchan MHK Peter Karran questioned its communication policy.
He was told each department, board and office has its own policy on recording calls and how they make people aware of that.
There are over 5,000 telephone numbers across government with 212 being recorded lines - Chief Minister Allan Bell says it's an area now under view:
