The Department of Infrastructure is set to complete its 'midlife refurbishment' of the Linkspan.
The Linkspan makes up an important part of the Island's infrastructure as it handles around 90 per cent of sea freight.
The two hydraulic cylinders which help raise and lower the Linkspan to meet the ramp on the vessel were in need of an upgrade after 16 years of use.
One will be entirely replaced and the other is being re-conditioned and re-installed.
The first phase of the £444,000 project started in January - the rest of the work is scheduled for the end of June.
Ferry services are unlikely to be disrupted.
