Elderly people who are on benefits are being cared for in hospital or by family due to a lack of nursing home beds.
That’s according to the Department of Health and Social Care which says permission to buy a new privately built care home would help to alleviate the problem.
This week it will ask Tynwald to approve a spend of up to £8.1 million for the 68-bed facility on Sailsbury Street in Douglas.
