English Sporting Manx Championship

Mon, 13 Jun 2016

Ayre Clay Target Club’s Blue Point Range in warm summer sunshine was the perfect setting for the English Sporting Manx Championship on Sunday.

Thirty shooters took part in the 100 target competition, sponsored by Sadler Agricultural Supplies.

Marty Kneen was the eventual winner after a shoot-off with Paul Mihailovits.  Both Paul and Marty shot 87/100.  A new stand was set up with both scoring 4/10.  It then went to sudden death on pairs.  Kneen stepped up first and hit one.  Mihailovits missed the pair giving Kneen the victory.  Kevin Oates took third place with 86, and the first placed junior was Jack Kneen on 73.

The Harding Lewis Summer Sporting League was held over the first 50 targets.  There was a four way tie for first between Jack Clague, Alan Kinrade, Marty Kneen and Kevin Oates who all shot 45/50.

Results of the fourth round of the Harding Lewis sponsored Sporting Summer League:

A Class: 1= Jack Clague, Alan Kinrade, Marty Kneen and Kevin Oates 45.

B Class: 1= Phil Butler, Brian Mylrea and Chris Parker 42.

C Class: 1, Jason Bulliment 38; 2, Corina Clague 36; 3, Richard Kneen 33.

This weekend is another busy one for the Club.  Saturday’s competition is the Side x Side Manx Championship; entries close at 12.30pm.  Sunday’s shoot is a 100 target Down the Line competition, sponsored by Jewson’s with entries closing at 10.15am.
