Shoplifter who couldn't stop stealing is remanded

A shoplifter has been remanded at the Isle of Man Prison after continuing to steal whilst on bail.

46-year-old Christine Metaxas was due to be sentenced at Douglas Courthouse last week after previously admitting three counts of theft from April.

However she went on to commit three more on May 11th and 19th leading to sentencing being delayed.

Her advocate told the court the matters were "minor" and were "low value thefts being committed by an alcoholic".

An application for bail was refused - social enquiry reports will be completed before Metaxas is sentenced on June 14th.
