Work permit figures revealed after training concerns

There are more than 3,500 people in employment on the Isle of Man who have a work permit.
That's according to the Economic Development Minister who revealed the numbers in Tynwald this week.
It was also confirmed there are a wide range of exemptions in place for temporary, intermittent and permanent posts - meaning people working under a permit in some areas don't have to report it.
Laurence Skelly also responded to concerns that local businesses aren't investing in training or on-Island staff because of the ease of securing a permit for an employee from elsewhere:
