Perfect conditions did not necessarily convert to excellent scores on Monday evening at the IoM Shooting Club’s Monday competition series. Range Officer, Brian Fozard held back the start for several minutes to allow the setting sun to disappear behind Slieau Whallian but even with non-existent wind, the scores were very low throughout the field. 17 shooters had registered for the match which allowed just 3 spare firing points spare however, a second detail may be required in future weeks as only 20 firing points are available for competition.
Top gun score in round 3 of The Osborn Carpets first 600 scratch match, went to John Wood on 578, two points ahead of Tracey Skelton 576 and Gemma Kermode on 575 claiming third slot.

Unfortunately, this particular week the scores were produced in the standard scoring method whereas last week and in future, The Osborn Carpets and The Sadler Junior Championship will be scored using the decimal system.
In The Empire Garage Tynwald Shield Handicap, victory went to relative new-shooter Sharon Drysdale by a single point from three shooters junior Matthew Roosen, Derek Kermode and Perryn Watson. Drysdale has only been shooting outdoors for 12 weeks but is proving to be an extremely competent shooter and is appearing to thoroughly enjoy the variety shooting holds for newcomers.
