The inquest into the death of an elderly woman whose death sparked a police investigation has been opened.
95-year-old Glenda Critchley died at Beaconsfield Nursing Home in Ramsey on December 15th last year.
Police were alerted three days later and began an investigation to examine the events leading up to her death - a number of staff were also suspended as a 'precautionary measure' but no charges were brought.
At Douglas Courthouse yesterday Coroner of Inquests John Needham confirmed her medical cause of death was aspiration pneumonia.
He granted permission to release her body so that funeral arrangements can take place - the inquest was adjourned to a date to be fixed.
