Public meeting to tackle Island's 'draconian' abortion law

Plans are being drawn up to alert health professionals on the Island to "discrepancies" contained in current abortion legislation.
The Campaign for Abortion Law Modernisation group says it believes some workers are unaware of the differences between the 1995 Termination and Pregnancy Act and the 1967 Abortion Act.
CALM is calling for the law - which it's called "out-dated" and "draconian" - to be updated; it says for women who don't meet strict criteria it could even be dangerous with women taking matters into their own hands.
The group also wants to bring the issue to the attention of current and prospective MHKs - spokeswoman Samantha Morris says it's perfect timing:
