Kermode romps home to two wins at the 2016 North Wales Airgun Association Championships
Gemma Kermode has had a very busy couple of weeks with competitions at the IoM Easter Shooting Festival followed by weekend at the North Wales Airgun Championships. Her results from Wales show how this experienced and very determined young lady is challenging some of the best air rifle shooters in Britain. In her first Class A competition Gemma, shooting under the title of the Laxey and District Rifle Club, thrashed the opposition with a gross score of 610.4 hitting 36 X bulls in the process. In second place, the score was separated only by X bulls with both Elizabeth Bradbury and Easter shoot regular, Zoe Bruce grossing a score of 603.9 – Bradbury had 29 X bulls and Bruce had 27.
Kermode’s series of scores were:-
102.9; 100.2; 103.2; 102.7; 102.0; 99.4 = 610.4 (36 x Bulls)
In competition 2 Class A, Zoe Bruce must have realised she had a match on her hands and improved her gross score to 609.1 and once again Gemma shot an identical score to her competition 1 score.
Her Competition 2 series were:-
102.0; 102.6; 101.5; 99.5; 101.9; 103.2 = 610.4 (32 X Bulls)
Rachel Glover hits MCS in The British Free Rifle Club at the weekend
Rachel Glover has been competing at Bisley in The British Free Rifle Club series of matches and in her first ‘English Match’ at Bisley at the weekend, the York based Manx lass managed to record a minimum consideration score for the 2018 Commonwealth Games in The Gold Coast, Australia, posting an excellent score of 616.7 which I am led to believe, could well be corrected to 617.3 later, due to some errors in administration confirmation, but to my knowledge has not been announced yet. This score gave her second place behind Stuart Hill on 617.9. Rachel also competed in the second English Match and posted a gross score of 615.0 to add to her earlier prone match.
Her series of scores were –
English Match 1,
102.8; 102.7; 101.6; 103.6; 103.5; 102.7 = 616.7
English Match 2,
102.7; 103.2; 100.6; 103.5; 102.8; 102.2 = 615.0 giving her a third position
In next week’s column, I will hopefully be in a position to give you the results from the NSRA Postal leagues.
