No plans for Island to micro-chip dogs

There are no plans yet to make micro-chipping on the Island compulsory - despite the rest of the British Isles making the change.
This week the UK made it an offence if a dog isn't micro-chipped with owners facing a fine of up to £400.
The procedure means the owners of an animal can be found more easily if they stray.
South Douglas MHK Kate Beecroft has been chairing a Tynwald committee on animal welfare which is supportive of the issue.
However she says we need a better dog warden system in place first to make it work:
