The Outdoor season got underway at Greeba on Sunday in rather soggy conditions. The archers who bothered to turn up shot a variety of Metric rounds with varying degrees of success.

Josh Trafford and Danny Cowin faced off in the Gents Recurve Division, shooting a WA1440 round. That is three dozen arrows at each of four distances 90, 70, 50 and 30m. It was a close run thing over the first distance with the lead ultimately going to Danny Cowin but after that it was Josh Trafford all the way. Josh powered through the remaining distances to add 60 points to his pb for the round and record an easy victory.

Rhys and Dave Moore also shot a WA1440 in the Gents Compound Division. This was a similarly one sided affair with Rhys romping home 44 points ahead of Dave to take the win. Rhys added 26 points to his personal best score for the round and break the 1300 barrier for the first time.

Pete Mumford, Colin Moore and Joy Gough shot a Long Metric I in the morning session. Pete had the lead over Colin after the first dozen but Colin was the more consistent thereafter and took the win by a clear 21 points. Joy Gough was the only Lady Compound in evidence and put in a respectable season opener.

In the afternoon three junior archers braved the conditions. Joseph Reaney shot a Long Metric IV that is three dozen arrows at each of two distances 40 and 30m, while Tilly Ashton and James Hill shot a Long Metric V which is the same as the Long Metric IV but shot over distances of 30 and 20m. Tilly was shooting outdoors for the first time.
