Angler let off the hook after 'over-enthusiasm'
Thu, 24 Mar 2016
An angler from Tromode has been let off the hook after being accused of fishing in a reservoir out of hours.
50-year-old Mark Reynolds was hauled before the courts charged with a Fishing Act Offence from January 19th.
It was alleged he'd gone over the allowed time by 30 minutes at Injebreck Reservoir in West Baldwin - at Douglas Courthouse this week the prosecution agreed to withdraw the charge against him.
The prosecutor told the court they'd taken the view he'd "learnt his lesson" - adding that the temporary confiscation of his equipment had been "penalty enough".
Addressing the court Mr Reynolds thanked her for her "compassion" and said it had been "over-enthusiasm" on his part.
Closing proceedings Deputy High Bailiff Jayne Hughes said it wasn't in the public interest to continue adding "just be careful of your timing in future".
