The Isle of Man is the first entire jurisdiction in the world to be awarded the UNESCO accolade.
The Department of Environment, Food and Agriculture led the nomination with support from wider government, schools, environmental groups and the third and private sectors.
120 countries host 669 biosphere reserve sites - including places like Ayres Rock and Yellowstone National Park.
