Isle of Man granted UNESCO status
Mon, 21 Mar 2016
The Isle of Man has joined 668 other places around the world in gaining UNESCO status.
The United Nations accreditation means the Island is now designated as a biosphere reserve - for its educational, scientific and cultural qualities.
It was one of 20 places to be added to the network of protected nature reserves during an event in Lima last week.
Also joining the list were biosphere reserve sites in Iran, Madagascar and Peru.
