Tens of thousands of pounds is being wasted by over prescribing medication to elderly people on the Isle of Man.
That's the admission from the Department of Health and Social Care after concerns were raised by North Douglas MHK John Houghton.
He claimed a constituent had cleared up after an elderly person had died and found thousands of pounds worth of unused drugs left over.
It's been confirmed a Medication Waste Working Group has been started to look at how cost savings can be achieved and waste reduced.
Minister Howard Quayle says the figures are alarming especially when the cost of drugs goes up faster than the rate of inflation:
