A Douglas man has been spared prison after knocking a man out as he ran past him in the street.
28-year-old Anthony Ford "clotheslined" the victim as he tried to pass him on Duke Street on December 20th.
CCTV showed him extending his arm which connected with the man's neck - he then fell to the floor, banged his head and was knocked unconscious.
Ford later pleaded guilty to a charge of assault causing actual bodily harm - he told police he suffers from anxiety and had put his arm out to protect himself.
At Douglas Courthouse last week Magistrates handed him a 16 week custodial sentence, suspended for 18 months, and imposed a yearlong supervision order - he was also ordered to pay £176 in costs.
