Spending over £1 million revamping Douglas Railway Station will actually save taxpayers' money in the long term.
That's the message from the Department of Infrastructure which will ask Tynwald to approve the spend next week.
Other refurbishment work includes bringing the toilets inside and creating a shop to sell railway memorabilia.
Minister Phil Gawne says this will allow the department to increase the rent paid by the tenants who occupy the building:
