The Isle of Man Constabulary says it "strongly disagrees" with claims that its social media output is "offensive".
It follows comments made by an advocate during a Tynwald Select Committee which is looking at the operation of the jury system.
Dawn Jones says the process should be "sacrosanct" and officers' opinions shouldn't be posted online.
Police have refuted her viewpoint saying they use the digital technology to "build positive community relationships" and to "prevent crime and protect vulnerable people".
However the advocate says she believes that approach means cases can be "trivialised":
