Court for partygoer who refused to leave nightclub

Sat, 05 Mar 2016

A Douglas partygoer who had to be restrained using "compliance strikes" after refusing to leave a nightclub will be sentenced next month.

28-year-old George Boultbee was told to exit Sugar Sugar in Douglas in the early hours of February 21st when he was seen being "intimidating" towards other people.

He became verbally abusive and refused - staff, who'd also noticed he needed assistance to stand, tried to restrain him on the floor where he became "extremely aggressive".

Police arrived on scene and they too were hindered in their attempts to remove him from the stairwell - they used PAVA spray to incapacitate him and he was arrested.

At Douglas Courthouse earlier this week Boultbee pleaded guilty to disorderly behaviour on licensed premises and resisting a police officer.

Social enquiry reports have been requested and he'll be sentenced on April 12th.
