Douglas man to be sentenced for cannabis offences in May
Sat, 05 Mar 2016
The Attorney General's Chambers has been criticised by a Deemster for wasting an "awful amount" of public money after withdrawing drug charges against a Douglas man.
49-year-old Frank Thomas appeared before the Court of General Gaol Delivery at Douglas Courthouse yesterday after being committed earlier this week.
He pleaded guilty to possession of cannabis bush and cannabis resin from December 23rd last year - but denied two counts of possession with intent to supply.
The court was told a trial was no longer required and the prosecution would be withdrawing the latter charges.
Social enquiry reports have been requested before Thomas is sentenced on May 4th - there was no application for bail and was remanded at the Isle of Man Prison.
