Allowing the subject of same-sex marriage to be taught in schools sends out a clear message to young people who are confused about their sexuality.
That's according to the Chief Minister - yesterday controversial amendments to the new legislation were thrown out of the House of Keys.
Just two members voted in favour of amending the Education Act so that teachers could opt-out of teaching the topic - Allan Bell says that wouldn't have been right.
It led to Onchan MHK Peter Karran criticising the amount of time being spent on the issue - he claims there's other more important legislation to come forward:
