Marown started strongly as Paddy Garrity and Joe Garrity beat second and third counterparts Pete Hadfield and Stu Lyons 21/12 21/17 to establish an early lead.  This was pegged back with Baillie Watterson and James O'Meara beating Darren Richards and Matthew Colley 21/18 21/10 to give the home side a slender one point advantage after the first round of matches.  The visitors briefly snatched the lead back as Patrick Garrity and Colley edged a tight battle against Hadfield and O'Meara 21/20 21/18, but several heavy losses saw their lead slip away.  Watterson and Lyons proved too strong for Richards and Joe Garrity and raced to a 21/8 21/7 win and Watterson and Hadfield had a similarly convincing 21/10 21/10 victory over Richards and Paul Garrity. Ends were shared in the final game of the evening, Lyons and O'Meara won the first end 21/14 but Joe Garrity and Colley turned the tables to take the second 21/15. Victory for Castletown/Abbey puts them one win away from securing promotion back into the top league while Marown stay at the bottom of the table, level on points with Rushen who have a game in hand.
