Nine motorists who were caught driving faulty vehicles yesterday have been given a week's grace.
It follows the launch of the new Vehicle Defect Ratification Scheme - those stopped have seven days to fix the problems and report back to police.
One driver had no insurance - officers say they'll be prosecuted.
Police are also reminding people to check their insurance covers them for commuting to work - it's after they stopped a driver who was, only to find the insurance didn't cover them.
