Onchan MHK Zac Hall says he believes the Equality Bill should have taken priority over plans to allow same sex marriage.
His comments come after he apologised "unreservedly" to his constituents after he was caught out copying a speech on the topic in the House of Keys last week.
Internet sleuths worked out his impassioned opinion - where he voted gainst the plans - was actually made up of comments from a Tory MP and an Irish newspaper article.
Hall has since admitted his approach was "somewhat lax" but says it was made with the "best of intent".
