Just twelve shooters braved the incredible cold and biting wind on Sunday morning to compete in the first 50 metre outdoor handicap match of 2016. It has been necessary to suspend all outdoor matches since November due to the installation of the clubs new batch of electronic targets, but it was possible on Sunday to use 9 targets and two details were needed to cover the entry. Almost all results were poor and the main reason given by the majority was that the very gusty wind blowing from what appeared to be all directions was extremely hard for any shooter to ‘read’.
Although having shot in the later stages of the 2015/16 IoMRA Associations Indoor Winter League, Sharon Drysdale had only ever shot 50 metres on one occasion and that was for an hour the previous weekend, but she was determined to try the discipline and was delighted to be successful on her first attempt by eight points ! Andy Potter appeared to be the only one who managed somewhat, to master the awkward conditions and posted the top scratch score of 582 x 600.

Port St Mary march on for the Division 1 title
There were no official matches this week, but as one of the Kirk Michael members is due to marry on February 29th, the date of their away match with Port St Mary and as this would also affect others in the village team, it was agreed to reschedule this match for Monday February 8th.
Once again, juniors led the way for the Southern team with Ryan Forrest posting a terrific 99 and Ashley Gardner on 98. Derek Kermode also hit 98 with Eddie Maddrell and Ashley Gardner (Snr) both on 97 making up the Division 1 team. The ‘Port were victorious in all three Divisions but the seven man Northern team continue to persevere week after week with a small team and a 98 from junior Illiam Christian and a 97 from David Lord topped the Northerners result.
