Driving ban for woman who rode motorbike drunk

A Willaston woman has been banned from driving after she was caught riding her motorbike whilst drunk.

34-year-old Joanne Watterson was stopped by police near her home on the morning of February 4th.

Officers described her as smelling of intoxicants and appearing "confused" - tests showed she was one and a half times over the drink drive limit.

At Douglas Courthouse this week she pleaded guilty to the offence - her advocate described it as a "serious error of judgement" blaming it on a "sad and troubling set of personal circumstances".

Magistrates fined her £750, disqualified her from driving for two years and ordered her to pay £125 in prosecution costs.
