Intensive training has started in a bid to transform a group of student officers into fully fledged police constables.
The eight new recruits are starting the second week of a 14 week programme which will see them under constant scrutiny as they gain an understanding of the job.
Last year one intake programme was described as a "failed exercise" after only two officers made the grade - however Sergeant Paul Kemp says he's confident that won't be repeated this time:
