A cocaine addict who hid drugs in his parent's loft has been jailed for four and a half years.
29-year-old Mark Whipp was acting as a "warehouseman" in order to pay off a drug debt when police raided the family home in Onchan on May 1st last year.
Officers retrieved cocaine, with a street value of over £2,000, from the storage compartment and cannabis from his bedroom - Whipp who wasn't at home "went to ground" to evade arrest.
He handed himself in days later and went on to admit possession of the Class B substance and possession of Class A drugs with intent to supply.
At Douglas Courthouse this week his advocate told the court the arrangement was a "fateful proposal" saying Whipp knew there was only one realistic outcome to the case.
Sentencing him Deemster Montgomerie told him there were no grounds to suspend the sentence adding "you're going to pay a very heavy penalty, it's important you learn from this".
