Queen awards BEM to local district nurse and midwife

A former district nursing sister and midwife at Noble's Hospital has been awarded a British Empire Medal.

That's Dorothea Gell - who's been given the title for services to the Manx community and her work with Island-based charities.

She's currently a committee member for Manx Mencap, vice chairman of the Royal British Legion Women's Section, and raises funds for the Royal National Lifeboat Institution.

Dorothea tells us what happened when she received the call from the Lieutenant Governor Adam Wood:
