Court appearance for Santa after he's caught drink driving

A dentist from Onchan has been banned from the road for four years after pleading guilty to drink driving.

42-year-old Ivan Santa drove to the SPAR store on Douglas Promenade to buy a bottle of wine on November 1st - however he'd already been drinking.

Due to the manner of Santa's driving on his return journey to Majestic Apartments a concerned member of the public called the police.

Officers attended and Santa failed a breathalyser test - because he'd consumed more alcohol on his return experts ruled he would have been over twice the drink drive limit at the point of driving.

At Douglas Courthouse this week Santa was fined £1,500 as well as court costs of £125 - he's also been ordered to pass a drink drive rehabilitation course and an extended driving test.
