Successfully prosecuting people who cheat the benefit system is sending out a clear message that it won't be tolerated.
That's the view of the Treasury Minister who says he's pleased the courts are taking the issue seriously.
Many of those punished are fined and ordered to repay the money from their benefits - however this means it's still the taxpayer ultimately picking up the tab for their wrongdoing.
