IoMSC Douglas welcomed the revitalised Castletown team to Sinclair range on Monday evening but eleven points separated the Division 1 teams at the end of the match. An outstanding score from Henry Qualtrough for the visitors resulted in a 99, I believe this is a personal best for the Southerner and considering the card took approximately 2 minutes to shoot, Henry unlike others present, seemed somewhat unaffected by the score but had to wait 7 minutes until the remainder of the detail had finished. Martin Moore was 3 points further back on 96 with Richie Arthur on 95 and Shirley Caley and Robin McFee both on 94. Castletown claimed a win in Division 3. The home team’s Division 1 score of 489 x 500 was made up of Mike Clague on 99, junior Thomas Clague and Dave Humphrey on 98 and Tracey Skelton and Nick Brown on 97.

Port St Mary take wins in all three Divisions
IoMSC Sandsiders travelled South for their match with Port St Mary but the nine man team came away unsuccessful in all three Divisions. Leading the way for the Southern home team, were Kevan Kneale and juniors, Jackie Gardner and Ryan Forrest all hitting 97 with Derek Kermode and Gary Knight on 96 making up the Division 1 team’s score of 483 x 500. An excellent score of 477 secured Division 2 with both Ashley Gardner (Snr) and junior George Dalton-Brown both on 96 and 95’s being claimed by two juniors Ashley Gardner and Callum Grant and a ‘not so junior’ Eddie Maddrell ! For the visitors, Bill Jones topped the Division 1 list with Andy Traynor just a point behind.
I have been informed that IoMSC Sandsiders shooter Norman Ormrod has recently been taken ill whilst off the Island; I think I speak on behalf of everyone involved in shooting, when I wish him a speedy recovery and a quick return to the shooting scene.

Sulby overwhelm a miniscule Laxey team at the Glen Gardens
Sadly, just six team members turned up for the home team at the Glen Gardens, for the Laxey v Sulby match and although they tried to match the visitors, Laxey had few scores to choose from for the Division 1 challenge. John Wood led the way on 98 with Suzanne Curphey a point in arrears. For the visitors, Peter Webb recorded top Sulby shot for the second week in succession (unfortunately not repeating last week’s full house), on 98 with four team mates all hitting 97 Peter Faragher, Mark Boyde, Teddy Sayle and Orry Teare.

It is sad to see three Isle of Man Rifle Association teams - Kirk Michael, IoMSC Sandsiders and Laxey all apparently struggling for members and if anyone local to these clubs have been shooters in the past, or are interested in trying the sport of Target Rifle Shooting, please do not hesitate to contact one of the club officials who can be found on the website http://iomra.net contacts page, equipment will be available and you would be made very welcome by those involved.
