A Royal Navy veteran who was found drunk and incapable in Castletown has been fined and told he needs to get help.
Police arrested 53-year-old Gary Mincher on Sunday afternoon after his partner called them expressing concerns about his welfare.
He was described as "staggering and slurring" as he left her property - despite requests he refused to give officers details of where he lived and was arrested.
At Douglas Courthouse yesterday he pleaded guilty to the offence - his advocate told the court he was an alcoholic who suffered badly with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder caused by his involvement in the Falklands.
Sentencing him Deputy High Bailiff Jayne Hughes told him police had "no alternative" but to arrest him "for his own safety" - she fined him £150 and ordered him to pay £125 in costs.
