Nineteen hardy shooters took part in the first round of Ayre Clay Target Club’s winter sporting league at Blue Point on Sunday in very wet conditions.
The 50 target competition was sponsored by Chrystals Estate Agents and was won by Dave Corlett on 39. Marty Kneen was second with 37 and there was a tie for third place between Phil Butler and Kevin Oates on 36.
The competition started at 10.30 with a pause at 11 for the two minute Remembrance Day silence. This year it was even more of a personal memorial as all members reflected on the recent passing of a club stalwart and war veteran Harry Dicken who died last month. Although Harry was unable to participate in competitions recently, he was always a part of the clubhouse banter and will be sorely missed.
Results:
A Class: 1, Marty Kneen 37/50; 2, Kevin Oates 36.
B Class: 1, Dave Corlett 39; 2, Phil Butler 36.
C Class: 1, Gareth Hooson-Owen 32; 2= Giulio Fabrizio and Chris Parker 29.
