Warranty warning from OFT ahead of Christmas

Extended warranties on electrical goods aren't necessarily 'value for money'.

The Office for Fair Trading has issued a warning to consumers - asking them to research the extra cost before splurging on pre-Christmas purchases.

Most people don't need one and products are often likely to be more expensive than repair costs as a result.

People already have statutory rights in case they're sold faulty merchandise - Trading Standards officer David Oldfield explains why the OFT has concerns:
