The Island's chief constable has condemned a man who assaulted a special constable in Ramsey saying it was "completely unacceptable behaviour".
27-year-old Mark Taggart struck the officer in the side of the head in the early hours of Saturday morning, breaking the skin and causing his face to bleed.
Police were called to the bus station after a driver found Taggart heavily intoxicated and asleep - they had a warrant for his arrest due to non-payment of fines.
Taggart was said to "lunge rapidly" at the two officers swinging his arm with his fist clenched - at Douglas Courthouse today he also admitted resisting arrest and possession of cannabis.
Social enquiry reports have been requested and he'll be sentenced on December 8th - bail was granted on the condition the outstanding fine is paid today.
