Lucky escape for driver who crashed near Switchback

The outcome could have been "very different" - that's the message from the emergency services following a crash near the Switchback last night.

They were called into action at 9pm to locate a motorist whose car had crashed into an unlit field.

The woman didn't know where she was and was trapped in the vehicle which was leaking petrol - she was located on Knocksharry Farm and was taken to Noble's Hospital.

Post-crash investigations show the car missed a number of trees and a telegraph pole before dropping the two metres into the field.
