An Onchan man has been disqualified from driving after a passer-by tipped off police when they saw him getting into his car drunk.
26-year-old Richard Angwin was spotted on St George's Street in Douglas in the early hours of September 26th - he was described as being "unsteady on his feet".
Police found him at his home shortly afterwards - he smelt strongly of intoxicants and was slurring his speech; his car keys were in his pocket and his car was found at the nearby golf club.
At Douglas Courthouse last week he told the court he accepted he'd drank alcohol and driven adding he'd also consumed alcohol when he returned home.
His advocate said he'd drank more than he expected and described it as an "error of judgement" saying he felt "very embarrassed" and had learnt a big lesson.
Magistrates fined him £1,225 and disqualified him from driving for 30 months.
