Research into the Island's hotel sector is urgently needed according to the Department of Economic Development.
Plans are in place for a study which will assess the future of the sector - examining the potential in redeveloping and repositioning existing stock.
Self-catering accommodation figures are steadily increasing as bed spaces in hotels have slumped by a quarter since 2003.

The qualitative and quantitative research will be conducted by 'Hotel Solutions' imminently.
