The Isle of Man is now the only jurisdiction in the British Isles not to charge for plastic carrier bags.
England introduced the 5p charge yesterday - it's expected this will generate £730 million for good causes over the next decade.
The Friends of the Earth charity on the Island has called on government to follow suit and actively encourage recycling by implementing a plastic bag tax.
