Private contractors who cut the grass on government land do not require off-Island training.
That's the message from the Department of Infrastructure which says comments made by an MLC this week are "wholly inaccurate".
Juan Turner had taken to Facebook claiming workers were being sent away adding that the people creating this "bureaucracy" are the reason government costs so much to run.
However the department insists that's not the case saying training is only given when a degree of risk is present - like in the use of hazardous substances.
