Increasing the standing charge for Manx Gas customers will hit vulnerable people the hardest.
That's according to Onchan Commissioner Rob Callister who claims the company's decision will cost local authority tenants almost £90 more per year.
He says they've been left with no options because government has forced them to use gas as their main source of heating.
Manx Gas says the increase, effective from January, will be based on the volume of gas used adding that whilst the charge increases the cost per unit of gas will actually fall.
