John Kennaugh's funeral to take place on Thursday

Diversions will be in place around St Johns on Thursday for the funeral of the Captain of the Parish.

John Kennaugh's funeral will take place at St John's Methodist Church at 1.30pm - the 77-year-old died last week after a short battle with cancer.

Known to many as the voice of Manx farming he was also a well-known public speaker, preacher and broadcaster.

Police say due to his popularity they're expecting the church, and surrounding space, to be over capacity.

To combat this, and to keep mourners safe, there will be a temporary diversion of all traffic to the area between 12.30pm and 3pm with officers on duty to divert motorists.

Bus services to and from the area will also be affected.
