Liverpool man remanded in prison on heroin charges

A man from Liverpool has been remanded at the Isle of Man Prison after being caught in possession of over £4,000 worth of heroin.

27-year-old John Slater appeared at Douglas Courthouse today where he entered guilty pleas to three counts of possessing heroin with intent to supply and one count of possession of cannabis. 
 
Police stopped him on Athol Street in Douglas yesterday, a later search found 23 wraps of the Class A drug in his buttocks - the drug had a street value of £320. 
 
Officers then searched an address in Ashley Park in Onchan, where he resides, and found a Tupperware box in the cereal cupboard containing 168 wraps of heroin worth £3,780.  
 
The drug was also found in its unprepared form - in addition a small quantity of cannabis was recovered. 
 
Slater also pleaded guilty to concealing criminal property worth £1,205 at the Isle of Man Bank. 
 
He will be sentenced at the Court of General Gaol Delivery on August 21st - there was no application for bail.
